Chris Barnham has run his own qualitative research consultancy, Chris Barnham Research and Strategy — running projects in the UK, Eire, Europe and North America — for the past 27 years. From 2014 to 2018, he researched a PhD on Peircean semiotics at University College London. His book on Peirce, The Natural History of the Sign, was published by De Gruyter in 2022. Chris's application of Peircean semiotics to the problems of brand structure led to him being shortlisted in 2022 for the AURA Breakthrough Agency of the Year.
